In large-scale emergencies, first responders may be delayed. CERT bridges that gap by training local volunteers.
Alexis Alvarez – CERT Program Manager
CERT Leadership
Alex Alvarez is the Program Manager for the Wimauma Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), where he leads training, volunteer coordination, and community preparedness initiatives. A retired United States Marine Corps veteran, he holds a degree from American Public University with a concentration in Emergency Management.
Mr. Alvarez has completed FEMA’s Professional Development Series and advanced Incident Command System training, including IS-400, preparing him to operate within complex, multi-agency emergency environments. He is also an active member of ARES/RACES, supporting emergency communications during disasters.
His leadership focuses on building local capacity, enhancing disaster readiness, and ensuring that underserved communities like Wimauma have trained volunteers ready to respond when professional resources are limited or delayed.
